Obituary for Myron Irving "Buffalo" Beauvais Sr.

Myron Irving "Buffalo" Beauvais Sr.
Myron Irving Beauvais was born on February 8, 1957 to Victoria Iron Shooter and Benjamin Franklin Beauvais. He was baptized into the Catholic faith as a child. Myron went on his Journey to the Spirit World on November 3, 2017, in Rapid City, SD. He was also known as ‘Tatanka’ or ‘Buffalo’.

Myron had a total of 9 siblings, 3 having already passed on: Dolores Starboy McCloskey (Faron), Carl Beauvais, Sr. and Harvey Beauvais, Sr. (Ladora). Surviving siblings include Edward Beauvais, Sr. (Ella), Dr. Archie Beauvais (Amanda), Charlotte Beauvais LaPointe (Benjamin Hill), Robert Beauvais, Sr., Elvis Beauvais and Celeste Beauvais.

Myron attended grade school in Mission, SD and one semester at St. Joseph Indian School in Chamberlain, SD. He got his GED and then in 2003 earned his Bachelors degree in Human Service Counseling from Wayne State College in Wayne, NE. He was employed several years as an alcohol counselor, but because of health issues did not continue.

Myron’s children include: Patricia Beauvais Millard, Jayme Beauvais Millard, Sally Beauvais King, also Pasquel Beauvais, and his only son, Myron J. Beauvais, Jr. (his mother was Gertrude Randall & to this union included two step-daughters: Emma Cournoyer & Cori Stead). Myron spoke proudly of all his children and his numerous grandchildren. One of his wishes was that he could have had them all together in a photo.

Myron really enjoyed traveling everywhere in his van. He traveled even with changing weather conditions, making his elder mother very concerned. He enjoyed meeting new people and telling stories about his adventures along the way. Eventually his health took a toll and he was hospitalized several times, but managed to survive.

When Myron came home to visit, he always had several nieces or nephews concerned about him. His beloved mom, Victoria, passed away nearly 8 months before he did. Myron touched many lives. He will always be missed by all his family and relatives who loved him.
