I am a year or more late in this story. I only learned recently that George died. I am retired now from being a Physicain assistant for 46 years and was going to look up those who were connected to my medical beginning. I am sad to learn of George passing. We lost track of each other after Physician Assistant School 1970-1972 at Grand Forks UND. I was his roommate for a year. He and I had very good times together. We were in the Rapid City Flood in the summer of 1972. We were feet from being swept away in the middle of the night. I believe 272 people lost their lives in that tragic flood.
George was always an impish fellow and he introduced me to Dennis Banks and Russell Means during a party in Grand Forks. I believe I was the only paleface there as George like to sweetly call me. He told Dennis and Russll I was a DEA agent....there was some tension and quesitoning by Dennis and Russel to me. Finally, George got me off the hook...LOL!
George was so very bright and a great physician assistant. He had a kind heart and he was so genuine. He was hugely funny and a jokester. He was filled with great compassion and empathy for mankind. He also was strong willed, true in character. I had such great admiration of him.
I think and talk about him from time to time in my life. George is in my story I tell others about my life now. I am proud and greatful he entered my life and we became buddies. Life is love and memories. We talk of those gone that we love, but they still live in us.
