My name is Gerald C. High Elk, I am from Dupree, South Dakota. First of all I am very sorry for your loss and will miss my friend. I have just heard from Bernie Long Crow who is from Fort Thompson, SD, who informed me of my special friend passing on. How I knew Ron was when I was first hired as the Housekeeping Supervisor there at the Rosebud I.H.S. back in 1998 to 2001. Ron is the first person who was very excited to see me and happy that I came to take his place as he was in the Acting position as the Housekeeping Supervisor. He welcomed me and ensure that he showed me everything that I needed to know about my job. He was one person that I can really count on in the housekeeping department. Everytime I see him he will shake my hand and calls me koda (friend), I always wonder about him if he was a Dakota sioux as I am a Lakota sioux. He says koda with a K and of course I would say with an L. The whole thing is it doesn't matter which dialect because it still means a friend. After I left Rosebud back in 2001 and everytime I have had a chance to go to Rosebud Reservation I sure made a special stop to see him and he was always happy to see me and we would talk about our times together as a friend and co-worker at the Rosebud I.H.S.. I will never forget Ron. If I can ask would you be able to send me a copy of his obituary on my special friend. Please send it to: Gerald High Elk, P.O. Box 396, Dupree, SD 57623. My cell phone # is (605) 218-1407. Thank you very much and my condolences to all of Ron's family. GERALD
