Elaine “Tweet” Bent Frederick was born on May 30, 1927 in Chadron, Ne. Her parents were Margaret “Peggy” Colombe and Louis Bent. Her parents divorced when Tweet was 2 years old.
Her father was called Pee Wee, he was a musician and traveled around the United States with, The Foot Warmers and The Lawrence Welk Orchestra, plus several others. He remarried and Tweet had one step-sister Mary Isgrigg of Reno, Nevada.
Peggy worked around the United States in Indian Boarding Schools so Tweet was raised by “the village”, her great grandparents Will n Anne Colombe, her aunt Hilda Flammond, William Colombe, Mervyn Colombe. They always laughed because Mervyn bought her a tricycle when she was only two months old. She was a loved child. When she entered school she attended Okreek and lived with her Aunt Laura Gunhammer, then Bob and Rose Waln at He Dog, then by Hilda Flammond, by then her Mother, Peggy retired. Tweet then graduated from Todd County High school.
She married Wayne Frederick and they ran a resteraunt and store for Harold Bradford. They did this for three years before moving to the country to take care of her great grandparents. Tweet raised several children in Greg, Tom, Lorna, Mary, Anne, Violet, Dorothy, Ruby, Marietta, Susie, Tony, Jim. She loved children. Her children laughed about her not saying I love you but she showed people how much she loved them. She has several people which were her hunka family: Paul (GI) Fast Horse, Dennis Gaspar, Robert Moore, Carol Star Boy, Colleen LeRoy, Brian Collins and Dan Colombe.
She always said feed the people, help the less fortunate, be kind to the children. She was a foster parent for 45 years. She loved her relatives with all her heart. She loved going to her nephews’ Sundance in Lake Andes, pow wows and visiting with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Wayne. Her sons Greg, Poncho, nephew Tony, hunka son Robert Moore, her parents Margaret Peggy Bent and Louis Bent.
She leaves to mourn her sister, Mary, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous relatives.
