Richard was born in Denver, Colorado on September 26, 1968 to Lester 'Buddy' Nelson Edwards, Jr. and Patricia Carol Left Hand Bull. He passed away at Rosebud Hospital on October 22, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his father and sisters: Carol Rose Edwards, Sheila Ann Edwards and Fancy Pearl Little Hoop.

Richard is survived by his son Samuel; mother Patricia; 7 siblings: Marie Edwards, Wilson DeNoyer III, Cecelia Edwards, John Edwards, Catherine Edwards, Christine Little Hoop and Anthony Little Hoop Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.
