Life Story for Sidney James Wright Sr.

Sidney James Wright, Sr. was born on July 30, 1966 to James David Wright & Joanne Didier Wright. Sid was born and raised and lived in South Dakota. He was a jack-of-all trades. If it was broken, chances are he could fix, or tell you how.

He worked as a volunteer firefighter at Mission Fire Dept. and an EMT-A for RST Ambulance Svc. He also worked as a truck driver and did concrete construction for many years.

Sid had many different passions, including horses, working cattle, hunting, fishing, guns, big lifted trucks, Lord Calvert, but most of all, he had a passion for his family. He had a special bond and love for his mom, Joanne.

Sid married Lanell Faye Waugh on February 24, 1989. She was indeed the love of his life. He was blessed with five children: Sadie Jo Wright, Sidney James Wright, Jr (Amy), Misty Dawn Wright-Turner, James David Wright (Brittney Sorenson) and Norman James Wright (Briana Picker); and 3 special to his heart nephews that he helped raise: Alonzo Fisher, Stanley James Wright (Heather Haberman) and Colin (Coco) James Wright.

After he was gifted with the opportunity to love, teach, inspire and care for his wife and children, Sid had 10 beautiful grandbabies: Kiana, Mya, Tyrone, Anthony, Jamar, Isaiah, James Jr., Kellon, Eli and Xander. All ten most definitely stole his heart and love. He took every opportunity he had to spend time with his wife, children, grandchildren, 11 brothers and sisters, nephews, nieces and close friends. Sid didn’t want to miss out on anything in life, so he made the best of what he could and enjoyed every day he had.

Sidney James Wright, Sr. was the rock that kept our family grounded. Sid passed away peacefully on September 21, 2017, surrounded by family and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his father, James David Wright; paternal grandparents Sidney Wright and Sadie Mae Allen; maternal grandparents James Didier, Jr and Mary Hatten Schweigman; brothers: Richard Wright & Norman ‘Smokey’ Wright; sister Donnita Scott; and nephew Colin ‘Coco’ James Wright.
